Management Accomplishments/Job Duties:
•Led multi-platform projects with diverse team members in all software development lifecycle phases. Performed roles independently interfacing with the business clients and various infrastructure groups. Reported status updates to management and stakeholders. Managed support team and responded to production issues, coordinating with the client.
•Directed implementation of JCPenney Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance roadmap and IT directives for multiple critical applications.
•Managed and implemented Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and disaster recovery procedures for supported applications.
•Controlled the project that interfaced Not-For-Resale (NFR) Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Advance Ship Notice (ASN) errors into an existing retail supplier compliance ASN error system in a movement to centralized supplier compliance. Met tight deadlines by using innovative techniques in concurrent development.
•Supervised several projects that interfaced NFR Ordering with a new Oracle Accounts Payable database and EDI systems. Innovated to create orders for items with fractional quantities. These projects created less waste for buyers, and resulted in savings of thousands of dollars per year for each buyer.
•Coordinated moving production web-based NFR ordering system from application-owned resources to shared resources. By moving to failover application and database servers, provided improved service level agreements and freed developers from server maintenance and support. Result was overall cost savings on hardware, software, and upgrade processes.
Hands-On Accomplishments/Job Duties:
•Managed the Personal Credit Information (PCI) production data at rest on the mainframe. Creatively bypassed encrypting header and trailer records to ease research.
•Supported a 24x7 NFR web-based ordering system using COBOL, DB2, ASP .Net, SQL Server 2005, and DTS/SSIS. The application averaged 200 concurrent users during business hours with a total of 16,000 active users. Achieved an up time rating of over 99%.
•Completed project to interface NFR Ordering system with a new Warehouse Order Tracking system which resulted in significant savings on over payments to vendors.
•Served as a key player in the team’s effort to reduce the number of production problems occurring each year by 5% annually.
•Evaluated and implemented a third party web based Contract Management system (Upside Software) to replace a manual contract process. Provided guidance to client as an implementation solution without customization. Used ASP.Net, SQL Server, SMTP, Neevia, and Data Transformation Services.
•Adapted quickly to Rapid Iterative Development (RID) across four functional teams to create new Catalog Sales Accounting application that produced a certifiable sales DB2 database with high referential integrity.
•Assumed the lead for all Y2K preparation and coordinated testing company-wide. Created a Portfolio of our mainframe, open systems, and third party vender applications identifying potential date impacts. Evaluated, installed, trained, and supported several mainframe and work station tools to support Y2K preparations. Created and maintained web site for information and status reporting (HTML, Cold Fusion, JavaScript, and DB2).
•Participated in developing a new COBOL Incentive Compensation system using the IEF case tool in a short development timeframe. Made changes to an unfamiliar IEF generated batch/CICS accounting application in a fraction of the project estimated time.
•Evaluated mainframe and workstation development tools and coordinated testing and implementation (File-Aid, Xpediter, Simulate 2000, Version Merger, Metallect, Source Offsite). Recommended configuration changes for workstation image to improve usability.
•Coordinated management and technical training for IT department. Provided technical training for mainframe software, COBOL, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, DYL280, and IBM Utilities. Provided training to new associates, contractors, and personnel from acquired companies to get them productive quickly. Provided leadership on recommending technical and management training for associate’s on-going training.
•Led initiative to replace unsupported IBM impact printer with a faster impact printer and an IBM 3820 Laser printer. Initiative resulted in savings of hundreds of dollars per month. Introduced Advance Function Printing (AFP) on the laser printer to replace several pre-printed forms.
